196Current Status of Accident Risk in Athletic Club Activity: An Analysis of the Annual Trends by Epidemiological ApproachAthletic clubs are activities in which accidents are prevalent in schools. Therefore, it can be said to be an activity with a high priority for safety measures. However, until now, there has been little risk analysis in school safety of matters such as the actual level of risk in club activities, whether risks are increasing or decreasing, and the factors contributing to such fluctuations. In this study, we attempt to understand the risk of club activities at junior high and high schools by clarifying the actual situation of accident risk in recent years through an epidemiological approach. By using the data on the number of accidents by each type of activity shown in Gakkou No Kanri Ka No Saigai by the Japan Sports Council and the data on the number of members of each type of activity shown in the Nippon Junior High School Physical Culture Association and All Japan High School Athletic Federation, the accident rate per 100 persons was calculated for each type of club activity in each year from 2011 to 2019. The Cochran-Armitage test showed that there was a decreasing trend in risk for all activities except skiing and skating in junior high schools. In contrast, an increasing trend was found for many activities in high schools. Cluster analysis showed that junior high school club activities were classified into two clusters, “non-contact club activities” and “contact club activities.” At the same time, there was an additional cluster, “rugby football club,” in senior high school. Peak analysis showed no specific trend in junior high schools, but concentrated in 2015 and 2017 in senior high schools. These results indicated that, as an overall trend, the risk of accidents may not have changed in junior high schools but may have increased in senior high schools. In addition, the characteristics of the clusters and the factors in the risk of individual club activities were discussed. Based on the above points, the usefulness and limitations of the epidemiological approach as a method of understanding risks at school were discussed.Kenta MITSUSHITA
